Natalie L Payne
Dr Natalie Payne obtained her PhD at Monash University in 2011, assessing adult stem cell-based therapies for treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS), funded by the Trish MS Research Foundation. She undertook further postdoctoral training with Prof Claude Bernard at the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute to focus on pluripotent-stem cell based platforms for treatment of MS, receiving an MS Research Australia Ian Ballard Travel Fellowship to undertake training at the University of California, Irvine and Scripps Research Institute. During this time Dr Payne also helped to develop a patented nanoparticle-based strategy for inducing tolerance to autoimmune disease. In 2016 she joined Prof Andras Nagy’s research group at ARMI where she is using novel genome engineering strategies to creating “designer” stem cell therapies for neurological diseases.
