Melad Farraha
Melad completed a combined Bachelor of Engineering and Medical Science as well as a Master of Engineering (Electrical) at the University of Sydney. He successfully completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Medicine) degree in August 2019 with graduation next month. His PhD was undertaken within the Centre for Heart Research at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research with the focus being the development of a biological pacemaker, in a large animal model utilising a gene therapy approach. This extensive project involved a multifactorial approach involving vector creation, invitro characterisation, large animal model characterisation and validation, undertaking biosafety studies with human translation in the future.
Melad is currently undertaking a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame Sydney with the aim of becoming a clinician scientist to tie together clinical work and his PhD research.
