Maciej Daniszewski
Dr Maciej Daniszewski is a stem cell biologist. He moved to Australia from Poland in 2015 and obtained his PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2019. During his PhD, he developed an automated platform to generate, maintain and differentiate hundreds of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines from patients and healthy controls to investigate neurodegenerative diseases, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, Alzheimer’s disease and MND. He has established the largest repository of ophthalmic human iPSC lines in Australia (>300) and has thus far generated stem cell lines from 615 individuals. His long-term research vision is to develop genetically-informed, personalised treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
