Abbie Francis

I am a post-doctoral researcher with the Oncogenic Signalling Laboratory in the Telethon Kids Cancer Centre. I completed my PhD at UWA in 2017 with a project investigating the immune response during anaphylaxis. My early post-doctoral work has included developing a 3D blood vessel model to investigate sudden collapse following snakebite envenomation and developing inner ear and retinal organoids to study Usher Syndrome, a hearing and vision loss disorder. In July 2020, I joined Terry Johns’ lab at Telethon Kids Institute to establish the team’s work on Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG). I am investigating the role of ion channels in childhood brain cancer in the hopes of finding more effective treatments.
